About Our Senior Pastor

About Our Senior Pastor

Ambassador of Peace for Israel

JENKINS UMEURUIKE  OKOH, is the warm, dynamic Senior Pastor of the TESTIMONY OF CHRIST CHAPEL as well as the President of HOPE FOR MY GENERATION OUTREACH

He started the ABUJA LUNCH HOUR FELLOWSHIP at his Country’s nascent Capital in Y2K. With this Platform, he has been at the fore-front of praying for Nigeria’s Leaders as well as evangelizing/sign-posting the city’s mainly civil service population of Christians and non-Christian Communities to Christ..

A pioneer of some sort, he has understudied many men of God by on-line, correspondence and direct contact and has been influenced most of them. No wonder he is known for his strict sense of discipline, humility and uncompromising stand that “…without holiness no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). He has a compelling passion for THE WORD, in the tradition of his acknowledged Mentor-in-Ministry and Math Professor-turned Preacher, the amiable Pastor William Kumuyi of The Deeper Christian Life Ministry (www.dclm.org) where he once was appointed a Youth Bible Teacher. On his resolve towards GOD’S WORK, he once declared: “By The HOLY SPIRIT, we shall… bear record of The WORD of GOD and of The TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST.” (Rev.1:2) insisting that “it is by The Mercies of God and to the glory of HIS Name that HE draws men unto HIMSELF converting modest inputs of mortal and ordinary men into great miracles, signs and wonders.”

Born in Africa with four other siblings (he is the third child and second son) to Joseph Okoh NwaChukwu Onwe, (former Soldier) and Sarah Mama Okoh, he gave his life to Christ at a Four-Square Gospel Church Meeting in 1990 at Abakpa-Nike branch, an Enugu suburb under Pastor Henry Olumeini. “This is to squarely place my Life and destiny at the Altar of The Most High GOD”, because, he added: “The Gospel is My Life”. His immediate younger sibling, Pastor Sydney Praise, is the General Overseer of the Lagos-based JOINT-HEIRS OF SALVATION CHURCH .

Pastor OKOH was nominated one of the Lead Ministers during the Special Y2K Pilgrimage to Israel, sponsored by the Enugu State Government of Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani ( www.ebeano.org) to mark the new Millennium in December of 2000.The Mayor of Jerusalem issued him and other Pilgrims (otherwise tagged THE MILLENNIUM PILGRIMS) special commendation Certificate for making the historic trip. And again in 2005/6 Pilgrimage, the Rivers State Government of Dr. Peter Odili ( www.riversstatenigeria.net ) nominated him in the same capacity and was this time, named an Ambassador of Peace for Israel by The Israeli Government .

His Ministry, Testimony of Christ Jesus ministers to the needs of the Congregation and the Community As part of his Community Service obligations, he founded the Talent Search Project which aims to discover, recover and package the ignored, discouraged, disillusioned, lost (and/or missing) first-class Intellectual “Tribes” of Africa, provide the Platform and rallying Point for all such superlatively-talented Children of Africa, and mainstream them as Models into the global intellectual Community to fully realize and harness their robust potentials and live their dreams so the larger society can benefit from their contributions.

Trained at the University of Calabar , this seasoned broadcast/print Journalist and inspirational Speaker, gained a Bachelor or Arts (B.A (Hons.)) Degree in History, before proceeding to the University of Lagos to obtain the elite professional Degree of Masters in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD). His Thesis on the United Nations and Human Rights has remained a masterpiece till date and this has endeared him to the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which once nominated him a volunteer.

Administrator and consummate PR Consultant before his call to full-time Ministry, he founded and ran the top-rate Lagos-based Public Relations Consultancy Firm, Global Models Inc. (which packaged such high-profile Accounts like The Herbert Macaulay Foundation, among others), and also President of the Pan-African Development Centre, (PADC), an African renaissance/advocacy Project, sponsoring the highly appealing Pan-African Talent Search Initiative as well as aiming to publish the maiden edition of the Continent’s earlier inaugurated African Journal of Rural Development, Agriculture and Co-operatives (AJRDA&C). Around the same period, he was the Assistant National Publicity Secretary of The Nigerian Society of International Law (NSIL). He belonged to so many professional Associations, some of which include: the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), etc. As member of the influential National Association of Political Correspondents (NAPOC), he was appointed Secretary of the 1993 General Elections’ Presidential Debate Committee in Lagos, a joint prime-time Programme co-sponsored by the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).

During the mandatory post-graduation Para-military National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme in 1989, he became the most valuable Corps Member and this culminated in his nomination to serve as the Corps Public Relations Officer (PRO), a position that elevated him to become Editor-in-Chief of the NYSC Press as well as Presenter of its weekly magazine Programme on Radio Rivers, NYSC Calling. Shortly after, the Abuja-based AFKAAR Printing and Publishing Co. Ltd, Publishers of THE NATION NEWSPAPERS, discovered the immense potentials in this budding Star and gave him his first paid-job as Lagos Bureau Correspondent from where in 1993, he switched over to corporate media practice with Cymbals Limited, a PR/Marketing Firm in Lagos which packaged the War Against Indiscipline and Corruption (WAI-C) for the Abacha regime in 1994.

As a Student activist, he was elected President of the vibrant Nigeria Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) at the maiden Convention of the Body held at UNICAL, Calabar in 1988, combining the increasingly demanding functions with his duties as Secretary-General of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of University of Calabar (UNICAL) as well as a students’ representative on the Police-Community Relations Committee. He was also, Secretary, Historical Society of Nigeria, UNICAL Chapter. At the graduate level, he was elected President of the Masters in International Law and Diplomacy Post-Graduate Students’ Association, University of Lagos (UNILAG) from 1993-5. Pastor Umendu’s contributions towards the strengthening of the Post-Graduate Christian Fellowship at UNILAG were evident, culminating in the special commendations by the Fellowship as he was graduating.

Earlier on in the Secondary School, he was appointed Senior Prefect of Boys’ High School Ozalla, in Nkanu-West Local Government Area in 1981, while still functioning as Leader of the College’s Debating and Literary Club. It was at this early stage that he was fondly called “The Walking Dictionary”
He is currently working on many Christian Ministry materials

“…For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required….”(Luke 12:48). With God’s matchless grace and anointing upon his life, he has been Commissioned to plant 100 Churches/Fellowships around the world, he believes that there is urgent need to take The Gospel to the various parts of our World, so as to consolidate and improve on the gains of the past which place the (estimated) rate of growth of the Christian population at more than 100 million (One hundred Million) new believers each year since 2000 years ago, faster than any other faith or even secular Organization in the World. This is possible, especially with recent unprecedented advancement in Information and Communications Technology and renewed collaborative Initiatives and networking by Christian Organizations

The highly-anointed Man-of-God, gives GOD all the glory for the miracles taking place in his ministrations and says he rejoices immensely when people come to give their lives to Christ, and not only receive blessings and go back to the world.

On his call into full-time Ministry, the Pastor recalls how, with his contact, he was gearing up to launch into the mainstream of Nigeria’s Diplomatic Service, having made a mark in the organized private sector, and as government Consultant on PR, when it became apparent that The Master’s Work should have to take precedence.

He spends time to pray for the Ministers whom God has already given breakthrough in HIS Service, arguing that “THEY ARE OUR PHYSICAL MODELS TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND I LOVE THEM AND WHAT GOD IS DOING THROUGH THEIR MINISTRIES”.

An encounter with this Servant of God reveals Christ’s Grace upon his life to minister in the basic five-fold Pulpit Ministry as a Pastor, Evangelist, Prophet, Teacher and Apostle. Yet, he maintains that the best is to manifest the FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, which he describes as our Visa to Heaven.

Fielding questions from reporters on his position that Christian Ministry is a Service Mission, the mild-mannered Apostle of Faith says: “My involvement in Journalism, Public Relations Consultancy, dynamics of International Law and Diplomacy, have all combined to beef up my determination and acknowledgement that CHRIST IS THE WORLD’S GREATEST MODEL.”

Currently, the Co-ordinator of The WEST AFRICA EVANGELICALS FELLOWSHIP (WAEF), an Outreach devoted to supporting Missions Work of West African Missionaries around the World, he is also the Acting Secretary of the Christian Statesmen Fellowship International.
